1. Today is Ash Wednesday, we begin our Lenten Journey focusing on the 3 pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence. The Blessing and Imposition of Ashes will be at the 7 am mass and 7 pm mass. Please note that the imposition of ashes is a sign of repentance and the willingness to walk in the way of the Lord. It is important to note that only those who have received 1st Holy Communion may have ashes imposed on them. Please avoid bringing children and babies for the imposition of ashes.
2. During the season of Lent the Way of the Cross will be conducted on Mondays at 6:30 in Konkani and followed by Mass in English, On Fridays in English conducted by the Various Communities after the 7 pm mass in English and On Sundays after the 8:30 am mass followed by Sunday School.
3. The communities will conduct the Station of the Cross on the following dates:
16th February Zone 1
23rd February Zone 2
1st March Zone 3
8th March - zone 4
15th March - zone 5
22nd March - zone 6
4. During the season of Lent we will be taking pilgrimages to Khandala, Igatpuri and Vasai. These will be day-long pilgrimages and will be at subsidised costs. The first pilgrimage is 2nd March 24 - Satyagiri Dominican Retreat Centre, Igatpuri. The second is On 9th March '24 - House of Prayer - Khandala Please reserve your seat with a subsidised cost of Rs 200/- ( this includes travel and meals). You may reserve your seat and make your payment to Ms Freda at the kg office. We have limited seats.
5. We are introducing the concept of the giving box. The idea is that our sacrifice and fasting should benefit others. The box placed near the altar is meant to remind us that we are called to reach out to those in need. Your contribution placed in this box will be matched by the church and in the Easter season we will have the second round of feeding project as done earlier during the World Day of the Poor
